Commercial Building, Residential Building
Located in the historic center of Settimo Torinese City, the project redefines the concept of a building overlooking the main square of the city and the uniformity of its skyline. The volume is characterized by continuity between facades and rooftops, as a monolithic bulk, resembling a diamond. Bow windows come out of the bulk, looking at specific views of the Square and the City Council’s main buildings.
The project looks for a dialogue with the existing buildings: revisiting string courses and proportions; the new design harmoniously connects with the adjacent buildings. The project conceives an intersection between two buildings, like a hug or a groove, where the focus is common areas and the vertical movements.
Each floor, except the Ground Floor, hosts three apartments, with balconies and terraces and large openings toward the outside. On the South facade, a bow window is shifted from the façade. Its axis is in line with the slope running along with the Medieval tower of the municipal building. The program hosts a commercial area on the Ground Floor and four floors for residential uses. The Fourth Floor is included within the roof, allowing continuity with the adjacent facades. On the same floor, a terrace opens to the South, and a second one on the upper floor makes the roof empty and light.
